Fried Cheese Curds

Method

Preparation and Cooking

1

Prepare the Cheese Curds

Ensure the white cheddar cheese curds are at room temperature to help with the frying process.

2

Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

3

Prepare the Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until fully combined.

4

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be thick enough to coat the cheese curds.

5

Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

6

Coat the Cheese Curds

Take a handful of cheese curds, dip them into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.

7

Fry the Cheese Curds

Carefully place the battered cheese curds into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

8

Drain and Serve

Once fried, remove the cheese curds from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with ranch dressing for dipping.
