Method
Cheese Dip
- 1
Melt the Cheese
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, cream cheese, and milk. Stir continuously until the cheeses are melted and smooth.
- 2
Add Seasonings
Stir in the diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Continue to stir until everything is well combined and heated through.
Salsa Fresca
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, chopped onion, finely chopped jalapeño, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and salt.
- 4
Mix Well
Gently toss all the ingredients together until well mixed. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
Crema
- 5
Mix Crema
In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream, lime juice, and salt until smooth and well combined.
Tortilla Chips
- 6
Heat Oil
In a large saucepan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 7
Fry Tortillas
Cut corn tortillas into quarters. Carefully add tortilla pieces to the hot oil in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
- 8
Drain and Season
Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still warm.
