Prepare the Pickles
Slice the dill pickles into long spears, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, pour the buttermilk.
- 4
Prepare the Coating
In a third bowl, place the panko bread crumbs.
- 5
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle spear first in the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk, and finally coat it evenly with the panko bread crumbs.
- 6
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 7
Fry the Pickles
Fry the coated pickle spears in batches, cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
