Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned.

Simmer the Sauce
Add crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in the fresh basil just before serving.

Slice the sub rolls and place 3-4 meatballs on each roll. Top with marinara sauce, provolone cheese slices, and a sprinkle of grated Romano cheese.
