Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Tea and Spices

Once the water is boiling, add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves (or 2 tea bags), 1 cinnamon stick, 4 whole cloves, and 1 teaspoon of sliced ginger to the pot. Stir gently.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  4. 4

    Add Diced Apple

After simmering, add the diced apple to the pot. Continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Sweeten

Stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar or honey to taste, adjusting based on your sweetness preference.

  6. 6

    Add Milk

If desired, add 1 cup of milk to the pot and stir well. Heat for another minute, but do not bring to a boil.

  7. 7

    Strain and Serve

Strain the chai into cups or mugs, discarding the solids. Serve hot and enjoy!
