Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan by greasing it with butter and lining the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method), stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg and sugar mixture. Stir until fully combined. Then, add the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt, mixing until smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Torte

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are set, and the center is slightly soft but not liquid. A toothpick inserted should come out with moist crumbs.

  6. 6

    Cool and Dust

Allow the torte to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, dust the top with cocoa powder before serving.
