Preparation of Bread

Slice the Bread
Using a serrated knife, slice the baguette or ciabatta into 1/2 inch thick slices.

Toast the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the sliced bread on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly.

Chop Tomatoes
Dice the ripe tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.

Chop Basil and Garlic
Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and mince the garlic cloves. Add both to the bowl with the tomatoes.

Add Seasoning
Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the tomato mixture. Season with salt and black pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
Assembly

Top the Bread
Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each toasted slice of bread.

Serve
Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and serve immediately. Enjoy as an appetizer or snack!
