Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour four ramekins or a muffin tin.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth and thin.

  5. 5

    Melt Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully melted.

  6. 6

    Add Chocolate to Batter

Fold the melted chocolate into the batter until incorporated.

  7. 7

    Portion and Bake

Pour the batter into prepared ramekins, filling each about 2/3 full. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

  8. 8

    Rest and Serve

Once baked, let the cakes rest for 1 minute before inverting them onto plates.
