Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients needed for the Reuben sandwich. Make sure the corned beef is thinly sliced and the Swiss cheese is ready to melt.

  2. 2

    Drain the Sauerkraut

Open the sauerkraut can or bag and drain any excess liquid. You can also rinse it under cold water if you prefer a milder taste.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 3

    Layer the Ingredients

Take two slices of marble rye bread. Spread a generous amount of Thousand Island dressing on one side of each slice. Layer on half of the sliced corned beef, followed by a quarter of the sauerkraut, and a slice of Swiss cheese on top.

  2. 4

    Repeat for Second Sandwich

Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients to form a second sandwich.

Grilling the Sandwich

  1. 5

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet or frying pan, heat over medium heat. If desired, spread butter on the outside of the sandwich to achieve a golden-brown crust.

  2. 6

    Grill the Sandwiches

Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Once the sandwiches are grilled to perfection, remove them from the skillet. Slice in half and serve warm with extra Thousand Island dressing on the side if desired.
