Cheese Curds
Marinara Sauce
Method
Cheese Curds Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Breading Station
In three separate bowls, place the flour, cornstarch, and breadcrumbs. In a fourth bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
- 2
Season the Flour
Add baking powder, salt, and black pepper to the flour and mix well.
- 3
Coat the Cheese Curds
Take a cheese curd, dip it in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess. Then, dip it into the egg mixture, followed by coating it with breadcrumbs. Ensure each curd is well-coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Cheese Curds
Carefully add the coated cheese curds to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 6
- 7
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8
Blend the Sauce (Optional)
For a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender to blend the marinara to your desired consistency.
