Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Prawns

In a mixing bowl, combine the prawns with olive oil and minced garlic. Toss to coat and let marinate for 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Mushrooms

In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the sliced mushrooms until they are tender and browned, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.

Traditional House Battered Style

  1. 3

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add cold water until you achieve a smooth batter.

  2. 4

    Batter the Prawns

Dip each marinated prawn into the batter, making sure to coat evenly.

  3. 5

    Fry the Prawns

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the battered prawns until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Blackened Style

  1. 6

    Mix Blackened Seasoning

In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 7

    Season the Prawns

Rub the blackened seasoning generously over the marinated prawns.

  3. 8

    Cook the Prawns

Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it begins to smoke. Add the seasoned prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until charred and cooked through.

BBQ Style

  1. 9

    Prepare BBQ Sauce

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt. Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.

  2. 10

    Grill the Prawns

Preheat the grill. Brush the prawns with the BBQ sauce and grill for 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked through.

Scampi Style

  1. 11

    Make the Scampi Sauce

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add white wine and lemon juice, and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  2. 12

    Cook the Prawns

Add the marinated prawns to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until they are opaque. Stir in chopped parsley before serving.

Serving

  1. 13

    Plate the Dish

On a serving platter, arrange the prawns (in your chosen style) and top with sautéed mushrooms. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
