Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the New York Strip steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps the steak cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Rub the olive oil over both sides of the steak. Sprinkle the salt and black pepper evenly over the steak on both sides.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Allow the pan to get hot for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Sear the Steak

Once the pan is hot, place the steak in the pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving it, until a crust forms.

  3. 5

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steak over. Add the crushed garlic cloves and fresh rosemary to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time for your desired doneness.

  4. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the pan and place it on a cutting board. Cover with foil and let it rest for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  5. 7

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked New York Strip!
