Truffle Filling Ingredients

Method

Truffle Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Truffle Filling

Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and place it in a heatproof bowl.

  2. 2

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, bring the heavy cream to a simmer over medium heat. Remove from heat as soon as it starts to bubble.

  3. 3

    Combine Chocolate and Cream

Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes to soften the chocolate.

  4. 4

    Stir to Combine

Stir the mixture gently until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until firm, about 1-2 hours.

Cake Preparation

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease and flour four ramekins or a muffin tin.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Batter

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, stir in the sugar until well combined.

  3. 7

    Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla

Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

  4. 8

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  5. 9

    Mix Dry with Wet

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the butter-sugar-egg mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 10

    Fill Ramekins

Divide half of the batter among the prepared ramekins. Make a small indentation in the center of each and fill with the chilled truffle filling. Cover with the remaining batter.

  7. 11

    Bake

Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still soft.

  8. 12

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let sit for 1 minute. Invert each ramekin onto a plate and serve immediately, allowing the molten chocolate to flow out.
