Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Garlic Butter

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small pan over low heat. Add the minced garlic cloves and stir until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prep the Steak

Season the sirloin steak with salt and pepper to taste. Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned steak on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Slice the Steak

Once the steak has rested, slice it thinly against the grain.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 5

    Prepare the Rolls

While the steak is resting, split the rolls open and brush the inside with the garlic butter. Toast them on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Add Optional Toppings (if using)

In the same pan used for the garlic butter, sauté the sliced mushrooms and onions until soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 7

    Assemble the Sandwich

Layer the sliced steak on the bottom half of each roll. If desired, add the sautéed mushrooms and onions on top. Place the top half of the roll over the fillings and press down gently.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Cut the sandwich in half if desired and serve immediately with a side of your favorite chips or salad.
