Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut the corn tortillas into triangle shapes, about 6 pieces per tortilla.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the tortilla triangles in batches to the hot oil. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the fresh tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño pepper into small pieces. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño for less heat, if desired.

  2. 6

    Mix the Salsa

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño pepper, and chopped cilantro.

  3. 7

    Add Lime Juice and Salt

Pour in the lime juice and sprinkle with salt. Stir everything together until well combined.

  4. 8

    Chill and Serve

Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with the freshly made chips.
