Macaroni and Cheese Sauce

Prepare Fried Chicken

Marinate Chicken
In a bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add chicken breasts and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Dredge Chicken
In a shallow dish, place the flour. Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in flour until fully coated.

Fry Chicken
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the chicken for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare Macaroni and Cheese Sauce

Cook Macaroni
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add macaroni noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Make Cheese Sauce
In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Stir in smoked gouda, white cheddar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.

Combine Ingredients
Add the cooked macaroni, fried chicken (chopped), and bacon to the cheese sauce. Stir until everything is well coated and heated through.
