Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Once the water is boiling, add the macaroni noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-8 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making Cheese Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Make Roux

Once melted, add the flour to the butter and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes to form a roux.

  3. 6

    Add Milk

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to prevent lumps. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture begins to thicken, about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 7

    Add Cheeses

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the smoked gouda and white cheddar cheese until fully melted and combined.

  5. 8

    Season Sauce

Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder to taste, mixing thoroughly.

Combining

  1. 9

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained macaroni noodles back into the pot with the cheese sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.
