Method
Preparing the Protein Filling
- 1
Cook the Onion and Garlic
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about 3-5 minutes until translucent. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
- 2
Brown the Ground Beef
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Season the Filling
Once the beef is browned, add the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant.
Assembling the Tacos
- 4
Warm the Tortillas
In a separate dry skillet, warm the corn tortillas over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until they are pliable.
- 5
Fill the Tortillas
Place the warm tortillas on a plate. Spoon a portion of the prepared protein filling into the center of each tortilla.
- 6
Add Toppings
Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and a drizzle of hot sauce to taste.
