Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Fruits
Rinse the fresh strawberries and blueberries under cold water. Remove the stems from the strawberries and slice them in half. Set aside.
- 2
Mix the Base Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh strawberries, blueberries, lemon juice, granulated sugar, and water. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
- 3
Cook the Mixture
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the fruits are soft and the mixture thickens slightly.
- 4
Strain the Mixture
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the mixture into a bowl to remove the solids, pressing down with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.
- 5
Chill the Liquid
Once you have the strained liquid, let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour until chilled.
