Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture along with olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Flatbread Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a flat shape, about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 8

    Prepare Baking Sheet

Place the rolled flatbread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 9

    Add Olive Oil

Brush the surface of the flatbread with olive oil.

  5. 10

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the flatbread. Add dried oregano, salt, and crushed red pepper flakes to taste.

  6. 11

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden.

  7. 12

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into pieces. Serve warm.
