Method
Fried Pickles
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the sliced dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- 3
Add Buttermilk
Gradually add the buttermilk to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 6
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Ranch Dressing
- 8
Mix the Ranch Dressing
In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 9
Whisk Until Smooth
Whisk the ingredients together until smooth and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- 10
Chill Before Serving
Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.
