Method
Preparing the Steak
- 1
Season the Filet Tips
In a bowl, season the filet tips generously with salt and black pepper. Ensure all sides are coated.
- 2
Cook the Steak
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned filet tips and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Preparing the Salad
- 3
Prepare the Lettuce
Wash the butter lettuce thoroughly, then pat dry. Tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl.
- 4
Slice the Apples
Core and slice the Granny Smith apple into thin wedges. Add to the salad bowl.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Onions
Halve the grape tomatoes and finely slice the red onion. Add both to the salad bowl.
- 6
Add Croutons and Cheese
Top the salad with croutons and bleu cheese crumbles.
Assembling the Dish
- 7
Combine Steak and Salad
Slice the rested filet tips into bite-sized pieces and place them on top of the salad mixture.
- 8
Dress the Salad
Drizzle bleu cheese dressing over the salad, tossing gently to combine all ingredients.
- 9
Serve
Plate the salad and serve immediately, garnished with additional bleu cheese if desired.
