Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Russian Dressing

  1. 1

    Make the Dressing

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Assembling the Reuben

  1. 2

    Layer the Ingredients

Take two slices of rye bread and spread a generous amount of the Russian dressing on one side of each slice. On one slice, layer half of the corned beef followed by half of the sauerkraut and half of the Swiss cheese. Top with another slice of rye bread, dressing side down. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make a second sandwich.

Grilling the Reuben

  1. 3

    Grill the Sandwich

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place both sandwiches in the skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown and the cheese starts to melt. Carefully flip the sandwiches and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes.

Serving

  1. 4

    Serve the Reubens

Once both sides are grilled to a golden brown and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwiches from the skillet. Cut in half diagonally and serve hot with additional Russian dressing on the side, if desired.
