Beef Tallow Candle (optional)

Method

Dinner Rolls

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Prepare Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and warm milk. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape Rolls

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 5 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased cast iron skillet.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the skillet with a cloth and let the rolls rise again for about 30 minutes until puffy.

  7. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  8. 8

    Bake Rolls

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown on top.

  9. 9

    Cool

Remove the skillet from the oven and let the rolls cool slightly before serving.

Honey Butter

  1. 10

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix unsalted butter and honey until well combined and creamy.

Beef Tallow Candle (optional)

  1. 11

    Melt Tallow

In a small saucepan, gently heat beef tallow until melted. If desired, add a few drops of essential oil for fragrance.

  2. 12

    Cool and Set

Pour the melted tallow into a heat-proof container and allow it to cool and solidify before lighting.
