Method
Cake Preparation

- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- 4
- 5
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the chocolate mixture, adding the vanilla extract as well. Gently fold the ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 7
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center remains soft.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them sit for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and tap gently to release the cake. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
