Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the meat into two equal portions and form into loose balls. Do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Smash the Patties

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, place each ball of meat on the skillet and immediately smash down with a spatula to form a patty. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned and crispy.

  3. 3

    Flip and Add Cheese

Flip the patties and top each with two slices of white cheddar cheese. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

Cooking the Bacon

  1. 4

    Cook the Bacon

In a separate skillet, cook the slices of smoked bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and let drain on paper towels.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly on the skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a layer of lettuce, followed by the burger patty with melted cheese, the crispy bacon, and a generous drizzle of bourbon BBQ sauce.

  3. 7

    Add the Finishing Touches

Top with the fried onion ring, slices of tomato, and pickles. Place the top half of the bun on the burger.
