Ribs
BBQ Sauce
Method
Preparing the Ribs
- 1
Season the Ribs
Begin by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs. This helps the seasoning penetrate better.
- 2
Apply the Dry Rub
In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this mixture all over the ribs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
Making the BBQ Sauce
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, mustard powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- 4
Cook the Sauce
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce thickens slightly, about 10 minutes.
Slow Cooking the Ribs
- 5
Prepare the Slow Cooker
Place the seasoned ribs into the slow cooker, standing them up on their side if necessary.
- 6
Add BBQ Sauce
Pour half of the BBQ sauce over the ribs. Reserve the other half for later.
- 7
Cook the Ribs
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the ribs are tender and pulling away from the bone.
Finishing Touches
- 8
Broil the Ribs
Once cooked, preheat your broiler. Transfer the ribs to a baking sheet lined with foil and brush with the reserved BBQ sauce.
- 9
Broil Until Caramelized
Broil the ribs for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
