Method

Pie Preparation

1

Make the Pie Crust

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until dough comes together. Divide dough in half, shape into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

2

Prepare the Apple Filling

In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until apples are well coated. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes.

3

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

4

Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out one disk of dough to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place the dough in the plate and fill with the apple mixture.

5

Prepare the Top Crust

Roll out the second disk of dough and place it over the filled pie. Trim, seal, and flute the edges. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape.

6

Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30-35 minutes, or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.

7

Make the Salted Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and 1/4 cup water. Cook until the sugar dissolves and turns a deep amber color. Remove from heat and carefully stir in cream and salt. Let cool slightly.

8

Serve

Once the pie has cooled, drizzle the salted caramel over the top before serving. Enjoy your Salted Caramel Apple Pie!
