Method

Prepare Meatballs

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Mix the ingredients until just combined. Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball (approximately 30g each). Set aside on a plate.

Make Batter

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add Water

Gradually add cold water to the dry ingredients, whisking until you achieve a smooth batter consistency. It should be thick enough to coat the meatballs.

Fry Meatballs

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  2. 6

    Batter Meatballs

Dip each meatball into the batter, ensuring it is well coated.

  3. 7

    Fry Meatballs

Carefully place the battered meatballs into the hot oil, a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

  4. 8

    Drain Meatballs

Using a slotted spoon, remove the meatballs from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve

  1. 9

    Plate and Serve

Serve the mini Vikings hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara or ranch.
