Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all ingredients: rye bread, corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing, and butter. Make sure the sauerkraut is well-drained to avoid soggy sandwiches.

  2. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

Spread 1 tablespoon of Russian dressing on one side of each slice of rye bread. On two slices, layer the corned beef, followed by sauerkraut, and then Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining slices of bread, dressing side down.

  3. 3

    Butter the Bread

Spread butter evenly on the outer sides of each sandwich to ensure a golden, crispy texture when grilled.

  4. 4

    Grill the Sandwich

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches on the skillet and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, pressing down gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.

  5. 5

    Serve

Once grilled to perfection, remove the sandwiches from the skillet. Allow to cool for a minute, then cut in half and serve hot with extra Russian dressing on the side if desired.
