Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure that your stuffing cooks evenly.
- 2
Prepare Bread Cubes
If using fresh bread, cut it into cubes and let it dry out on a baking sheet for a few hours or overnight.
Cooking the Aromatics
- 3
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Mixing Ingredients
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, sautéed vegetable mixture, chopped thyme, chopped sage, crushed rosemary, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the bread is evenly coated with the herbs and vegetables.
- 5
Add Liquids
Pour the chicken or vegetable broth over the bread mixture gradually, tossing gently to combine. Add the beaten eggs and mix until evenly distributed.
Baking
- 6
Transfer to Baking Dish
Transfer the stuffing mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- 7
Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
