Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ham

Place the bone-in ham on a rack in a roasting pan. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep.

Making the Glaze

  1. 3

    Mix the Glaze

In a medium saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and black pepper. Stir well over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

  2. 4

    Add Water

Add 1 cup of water to the saucepan and stir until combined. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes.

Glazing and Cooking the Ham

  1. 5

    Apply the Glaze

Brush half of the honey glaze over the scored surface of the ham.

  2. 6

    Bake the Ham

Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.

  3. 7

    Glaze Again

After 1 hour, remove the foil and brush the remaining glaze over the ham. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and bake for an additional 30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes.

  4. 8

    Check for Doneness

The ham is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 70°C (160°F). Remove from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
