Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare Cornbread

If using homemade cornbread, ensure it's cooled and then cut it into cubes. If using store-bought, simply cube it. You will need about 4 cups of cubed cornbread.

Cooking Aromatics

  1. 3

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, sautéing until they are softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed cornbread, sautéed vegetables, and all the herbs and spices (sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper). Toss gently to combine.

  2. 5

    Add Wet Ingredients

Pour in the vegetable broth and beaten eggs. Mix gently until all ingredients are well combined but not overly mashed.

Baking

  1. 6

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

  2. 7

    Bake

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Serving

  1. 8

    Let Cool

Allow the cornbread stuffing to cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help it set and make it easier to serve.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve warm as a side dish for your holiday meals or family gatherings.
