Method
Brew & Prepare Coffee
- 1
Brew 1 cup of very strong coffee using your preferred method (espresso, aeropress, Moka pot, or concentrated drip). If the coffee is extremely strong or you prefer a milder taste, add up to 1/4 cup hot water to dilute slightly.
- 2
Pour the hot brewed coffee into a heatproof container or the pitcher of a milk frother.
Mix Protein & Milk
- 3
Combine powder and liquid
In a separate cup or shaker, add 1 scoop of unsweetened protein powder and 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant). Add 1 teaspoon sweetener and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. If making a mocha-style protein coffee, also add 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder.
- 4
Whisk vigorously, shake in a sealed shaker, or use an immersion blender until the protein powder is fully dissolved and mixture is smooth. Aim for no dry powder clumps.
Combine & Froth
- 5
Slowly pour the protein-milk mixture into the hot coffee while stirring constantly to combine. Stir for about 15–20 seconds to ensure thorough incorporation and prevent clumping.
- 6
Serve
- 7
For a hot protein coffee: pour into a mug, sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon or cocoa on top, and serve immediately.
- 8
For an iced protein coffee: fill a tall glass with ice, pour the combined coffee-protein mixture over the ice, stir briefly, and garnish with a pinch of cinnamon or cocoa.
