Baguette Dough

Butter Spread

Method

Making the Baguette

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy. In another bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture to the flour, mixing until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead and Rise

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Shape the Baguettes

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into two equal pieces. Shape each piece into a long baguette. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 4

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped baguettes with a kitchen towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.

  5. 5

    Preheat and Bake

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Make several diagonal slashes on top of the baguettes for decoration. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crusty. Let cool on a wire rack.

Making the Butter Spread

  1. 6

    Prepare the Butter

In a mixing bowl, combine softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and sea salt. Mix until well combined and creamy.

  2. 7

    Serve

Spread the garlic parsley butter on warm baguette slices before serving.
