Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Season the chicken thighs with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Make the Teriyaki Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.

  3. 3

    Thicken the Sauce

In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.

  4. 4

    Cook the Rice

Rinse the white rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice and water in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Cook the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken thighs and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.

  2. 6

    Glaze the Chicken

Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet, allowing it to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the chicken is well-coated and the sauce is heated through.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Dish

Serve the teriyaki chicken over a bed of fluffy rice, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
