Juicing the Lemons
Cut the fresh lemons in half and use a citrus juicer to extract the juice. You should aim for about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.

Making the Sugar Syrup
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.

Mixing the Lemonade
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, cooled sugar syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine.
Serving

Chill and Serve
To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes if desired, pour the lemonade over the ice, and garnish with fresh mint leaves if using. Enjoy your freshly squeezed lemonade!
