Method

Biscuit Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Add the unsalted butter to the dry mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Buttermilk

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick round. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Ham Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Ham

While the biscuits are baking, slice the cooked ham into 1/4 inch thick pieces.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Biscuit

Once the biscuits are out of the oven, slice them in half. Place a slice of ham on the bottom half of each biscuit. Drizzle with honey or smear mustard, if desired, before placing the top half back on.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the ham biscuits warm and enjoy your delicious homemade treat!
