Method
Biscuit Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.
- 3
Cut in Butter
Add the unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Add Buttermilk
Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently with a fork until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
Shape the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a couple of times until it comes together. Pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
- 6
Cut the Biscuits
Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds of dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Assembling the Ham & Cheese Biscuit
- 7
Add Filling
In a small bowl, mix together the diced ham and shredded cheese. Place a spoonful of the ham and cheese mixture on top of half of the biscuit rounds.
- 8
Top with Biscuit Lids
Cover each filled biscuit with the remaining biscuit rounds. Press the edges gently to seal.
- 9
Bake the Biscuits
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- 10
Cool and Serve
Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy your Ham & Cheese Biscuits warm!
