Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spatula or whisk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Preheat the Pan
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.

Cook the Pancakes
Pour about 1/3 cup of the pancake batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Flip the pancake and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with remaining batter.

Stack three pancakes on a plate, top with a generous dollop of whipped butter, and drizzle with real maple syrup. Serve immediately.
