Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Steak

Thinly slice the Angus sirloin steak against the grain into strips, approximately 1/4 inch wide.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the green bell pepper and onion into thin strips.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced green bell pepper and onion. Season with salt and black pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are soft and slightly caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the sliced Angus sirloin steak to the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the steak is browned and cooked to your desired doneness.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the sautéed vegetables back to the skillet with the cooked steak. Stir to combine and heat through for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the steak and vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Hoagie Rolls

While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Lightly toast the rolls if desired.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Cheesesteaks

Using a spatula, scoop the cheesy steak and vegetable mixture into the hoagie rolls, dividing evenly between the two rolls.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the Philly cheesesteaks hot with your choice of condiments or sides.
