Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a loose ball without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the beef balls onto the skillet and use a spatula to smash them down into flat patties. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a crust forms.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of American cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 4

    Prepare the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Layer the Ingredients

Spread a generous amount of garlic aioli on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cheesy burger patty on top, followed by a spoonful of chopped BBQ brisket, a handful of fried onions, and a drizzle of BBQ sauce.

  3. 6

    Complete the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently. Optionally, skewer the burger with a toothpick to hold it together.
