Sandwich Components
Method
Preparing the Plant-Based Chicken
- 1
Coat the Patties
In three separate bowls, set up a breading station: Place flour in the first bowl, cornstarch in the second, and breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in the third bowl.
- 2
Bread the Patties
Take each plant-based chicken patty, dredge it in flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it into the cornstarch, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
- 3
Fry the Patties
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Making the Buffalo Sauce
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan, combine the hot sauce and melted vegan butter. Heat over low heat, stirring until well combined and heated through.
- 5
Toss the Patties
Once the patties are cooked, place them in a bowl and pour the buffalo sauce over them. Toss gently until the patties are fully coated.
Assembling the Sandwich
- 6
Prepare the Veggies
Slice the tomato and red onion into thin rings. Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry.
- 7
Build the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each brioche bun, spread 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing. Lay down a lettuce leaf, followed by a slice of tomato, red onion rings, and pickles. Place the buffalo-coated plant-based chicken patty on top, followed by a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with the other half of the bun.
