Prepare the Glass
Start by chilling a rocks glass or an old-fashioned glass by filling it with ice water. Set aside to chill while you prepare the drink.

Combine Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the High West Campfire Whiskey, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters. Add ice to the shaker and shake well for about 15 seconds until well chilled.

Strain and Serve
Remove the ice water from the chilled glass and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass over fresh ice.

Add the Wine
Slowly pour the dark cherry red wine over the back of a spoon into the glass to create a layered effect.

Garnish
Twist the orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then place it in the glass as a garnish.
