Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Chill an Old-Fashioned glass by filling it with ice water. Set aside while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of bourbon whiskey, 0.5 oz of dark rum, 0.5 oz of simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

  3. 3

    Stir the Mixture

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

  4. 4

    Strain the Cocktail

Discard the ice water from the chilled Old-Fashioned glass. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.

Garnishing

  1. 5

    Prepare the Garnish

Express the oils from a piece of orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and gently twisting it, then drop it into the cocktail.

  2. 6

    Add Cherry

Finish by adding a maraschino cherry on top of the drink as a garnish.
