Prepare Oatmeal

1

Cook the Oats

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water or milk to a boil. Add 1 cup of rolled oats and 1 tsp of salt. Stir well.

2

Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the oats simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are creamy and tender.

3

Add Sweetness

Stir in 1 tbs of brown sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon until well combined. Remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare Bananas Foster Topping

4

Slice the Bananas

Peel and slice the ripe bananas into half-moon shapes.

5

Melt Butter

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tbs of unsalted butter.

6

Add Sugar and Bananas

Once the butter is melted, add 1 tbs of brown sugar and the sliced bananas. Cook for about 2 minutes, gently stirring to coat the bananas.

7

Add Flavor and Rum

Stir in 1 tsp of vanilla extract, 1 tsp of nutmeg, and 2 tbs of dark rum. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

9

Add Garnish

Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the top and add whipped cream to taste. Serve warm.
