Method

Dough Preparation

1

Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt until well combined.

2

Add Butter

Cut the unsalted butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

3

Add Water

Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. You may not need all the water.

4

Chill the Dough

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

5

Mix Filling Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine the Nutella, chopped hazelnuts, and powdered sugar. Stir until well mixed and set aside.

Assembly

6

Roll Out Dough

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick.

7

Cut Dough into Squares

Cut the rolled dough into squares, approximately 4x4 inches.

8

Add Filling

Place a tablespoon of the Nutella mixture in the center of each square.

9

Seal the Turnovers

Fold the dough over to form a triangle. Press the edges together to seal, then use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

Egg Wash

10

Prepare Egg Wash

In a small bowl, beat together the egg and milk until well combined.

11

Brush Turnovers

Brush the tops of the turnovers with the egg wash to give them a golden color when baked.

Baking

12

Bake the Turnovers

Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

13

Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Nutella turnovers!
