Method
Preparation of Salad Base
- 1
Wash and Prepare Romaine Lettuce
Thoroughly wash the romaine lettuce under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels or use a salad spinner to remove excess moisture. Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl.
Preparation of Croutons
- 2
Make Croutons
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread into small cubes (about 1-inch). In a bowl, combine the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Toss until the bread is evenly coated. Spread the cubes on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, stirring halfway through.
Preparation of Parmesan Crisps
- 3
Make Parmesan Crisps
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Grate the parmesan cheese and place small mounds (about 1 tablespoon each) on the prepared sheet, spacing them apart. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and edges are golden. Let cool completely, then remove carefully from the parchment.
Preparation of Dressing
- 4
Mix the Dressing
In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic. Whisk until smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
Assembling the Salad
- 5
Combine and Serve
In the bowl with the prepared romaine lettuce, add the homemade croutons and parmesan crisps. Drizzle the creamy dressing over the top and toss gently to combine. Serve immediately.
