Burger Patty

Toppings

Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Patty

  1. 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef (or chicken breast), salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined.

  2. 2

Form the mixture into two equal patties, about ¾ inch thick. Use your thumb to make a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Patty

  1. 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip.

  3. 5

Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty is cooked to your desired doneness (internal temperature of 165°F for chicken).

Prep the Toppings

  1. 6

While the patties are cooking, wash and prepare the toppings. Slice the tomato and onion into rings, and wash the lettuce leaves.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

Toast the burger buns if desired. Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each bun.

  2. 8

Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top of the condiments.

  3. 9

Layer the lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and onion rings on top of the patty.

  4. 10

Top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately.
