Method

Preparing the Crab Legs

  1. 1

    Thaw the Crab Legs

If your snow crab legs are frozen, place them in the refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight. Alternatively, you can submerge them in cold water for about 30-45 minutes until thawed.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cooking Method

You can either steam, boil, or bake the crab legs. For this recipe, we will steam them.

  3. 3

    Set Up the Steamer

Fill a large pot with about 1-2 inches of water and place a steaming basket or rack inside. Make sure the water level is below the basket. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.

  4. 4

Place the Crab Legs in the Steamer

Once the water is boiling, carefully place the thawed snow crab legs in the steamer basket. Cover the pot with a lid.

  5. 5

    Steam the Crab Legs

Steam the crab legs for about 5-7 minutes until they are heated through.

Making the Butter Sauce

  1. 6

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat.

  2. 7

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, finely chop 4 cloves of garlic and add them to the saucepan. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 8

    Add Lemon Juice and Seasonings

Stir in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Old Bay seasoning, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well and remove from heat.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve the Crab Legs

Once the crab legs are done steaming, carefully remove them from the pot and place them on a serving platter. Serve immediately with the warm butter sauce on the side for dipping.
